Today, there exists a most unique possibility in the world of art, driven by the resourceful workings of this one artist, Diego Rivera. Rarely does a substantial quantity of art survive from any famous artist's work that is not already owned by art museums or wealthy private collectors.

Due to two circumstances, originating from within this particular artist's life and work, a significant amount of art was produced by Diego Rivera that may well be unrecognized today.

First and foremost, throughout Diego's entire life he was forever in need of money. At first, in the 1920's, he needed it for bread and butter to supplement his mural painting income of two dollars per day. Then later, even after he became a man of means, he needed substantially more money to pay for his insatiable collecting of Pre-Columbian art.

His early mural art may not have brought Rivera fortune, but it certainly had brought him fame. Diego Rivera was an international artistic sensation by the time he was forty years of age. Everyone wanted to meet this man and most of them wanted to carry away a piece of his famed art. So, over the next thirty years, he painted an enormous amount of easel art. Many of these visitors just happen to be North Americans, who upon returning from their visit carried their Rivera art back to the U.S.

Secondly and quite significantly, Diego was a compulsive prolific draftsman throughout his career. He sketched endlessly, not only detailed studies for his large murals, but also, subjects and scenes from the everyday life that surrounded him. His Pencil, Pen & Ink, and Watercolor Drawings are filled with images of his beloved Mexican Indians and Landscapes. The drawings, themselves, range from a few simplistic lines quickly sketched across a piece of paper to fully developed works of art. The quantity of this artist's drawings is both staggering and unknown.

As a result of this immense production of commercial art and multiple drawings, many unauthenticated art pieces are, most probably, now residing in the hands of non-collectors within the general population.

Our website has been specifically designed to focus on the authentication of these unrecognized artworks. To that end, beyond the in-depth biographical and mural art history provided at our site, you will find a most revealing and valuable synopsis on the easel paintings, watercolors, and pen and pencil drawings produced by Diego Rivera.
